It's Your Thang! I had the wonderful opportunity to watch the Verzuz TV event on Instagram last night with two icons The Isley Brothers and Earth, Wind and Fire as they performed for four hours their greatest hits that spanned five decades. The song that struck me the most was, "It's Your Thang Do What You Wanna Do!"

This song was written back in 1969 and it actually earned the Isley Brothers a Grammy in 1970 for Best R&B Vocal Performance by a Duo or Group. Ron Isley wrote it after he dropped his daughter off to school thinking about his label situation with Motown and starting his label T-Neck Records. He just felt that it was time to move on and do his own thing and leave Motown behind. But Mr. Gordy didn't want them to leave and threaten the group that he would give them trouble if they left.

The lyrics were an expression of his suppression from Motown Records and how he felt you can talk that talk to somebody else but that's not happening with me! LOL!

I share this to say you do your thang and never allow anyone to make you feel like you can't do you. You have to make sure that you stand for something or you will fall for anything.

It's Your Thang! Do what you wanna do! I can't tell you who to sock it to. It's Your Thang do what YOU wanna do. I can't tell you who to sock it to.

Remember these lyrics when you feel suppressed and like you don't have a way out. You ALWAYS have a way out of things. You should never dull your shine for anyone and you shouldn't feel like people can sock it to you any kind of way because they cannot! I believe in you if nobody else in this world does! You can succeed and you will go beyond your right now! Keep going! 

Just like a diamond you shine resplendently. Keep Diva's Diamonds close to your heart and know that you are already FLAWLESS!
