(New York, New York June 26, 2015) Sonja Elise Freeman "Queen Diva" has been crowned Miss New York Plus America Lifetime. The Miss Plus America Pageant system is unlike any other pageant concept. It celebrates the inner beauty of each contestant, as well as recognizing their commitment to their communities. Emicia Parker, Pageant Director for Miss New York Plus America Pageant says, “Sonja Elise is an ideal queen to be the 1st Miss New York Plus America Lifetime 2015 for her commitment to the Miss Plus America pageant system and her love for New York State. We are proud to have her as our 1st New York State Lifetime holder.” As Miss New York Plus America Lifetime 2015, Sonja Elise will have the opportunity to further promote her platform: Mental Health Awareness and Suicide Prevention. “I chose these two causes because I am a huge fan of Songstress Phyllis Hyman who suffered from Mental Illness which led to her ultimate suicide on June 30 1995, just 20 years ago in June. I have produced a musical tribute to Ms. Hyman that I am presently preparing to take to Broadway in September 2015 in conjunction with Suicide Prevention Month.,” she said. I am a proud HBCU graduate of Prairie View A&M University, a part of the Texas A&M University system as well as course work at Rice University's Continuing Education Program and Inspire Women Leadership Institute at Dallas Theological Seminary School in Houston, Texas, and a Vocalist/Beauty & Fashion Professional/Teacher as well as the Founder/Executive Consultant of Divine Voices Media, a Life & Career Consulting and Coaching Firm.
I am a very proud mother of Gabrielle NaShanti, an 18 year old beautiful and talented daughter, who is a budding filmmaker and screenwriter, who will be attending the University of Rochester this fall 2015.
I am so excited to continually make a difference with the State of New York and around the world for a lifetime! There is no place on earth that is like New York and being born in Queens and yet traveling across the country over the years I couldn’t be more proud to be Miss New York Plus America Lifetime 2015!
